Privacy Policy for TrackR

Overview

TrackR ("we", "our", or "the app") is a motorsports data logging application for drag racers. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Car name, year, make, and model
• Run data (elapsed times, reaction times, dial-ins)
• Setup and configuration data
• Notes about your runs

This information is stored locally on your device. If Share data & cloud backup is enabled (see below), your run data is also backed up to our secure servers so it can survive a lost or broken phone.

Camera & Photos

TrackR requests camera and photo-library access solely to scan timeslip photos using optical character recognition (OCR). To read a timeslip, the image is sent to our OCR provider, Anthropic (the Claude API), which extracts the printed data and returns it to the app. The image is used only to perform this scan — it is not retained on our servers and is not used to train AI models. The original photo stays on your device with your run record. See Third-Party Services below.

Cloud Backup & Anonymous Performance Data (Optional)

With your permission, TrackR backs up your run data to our secure servers. This backup also helps us improve ET prediction accuracy for all users. Each backed-up run includes:

• The run record (elapsed times, reaction time, dial-in, quality, weather conditions, predicted vs. actual ET)
• The setup values recorded with the run
• The race day and track (track name, date, and session context)
• A hardware summary of your car (year, make, model, engine type, transmission type, suspension type, and weight)
• Any notes you wrote on the run or race day

Backups are keyed to a randomly generated, anonymous backup ID — not to your name, email, or any account. You can view your backup ID in Settings → About; keep it handy if you ever need us to restore your data.

The backup never includes: your name or email, your photos or timeslip images, your car's nickname, NHRA/IHRA member numbers, your GPS location, or data-logger files.

Sharing is on by default and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Data & Privacy → Share data & cloud backup. While it is off, no run data leaves your device (and cloud backup is unavailable).

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Your name or contact information (unless you choose to provide it in your profile — profile name and email are never transmitted)
• Stored location history — we never save your location. Your GPS coordinates are sent to our weather provider only to fetch current conditions (see Third-Party Services) and are not stored on our servers
• Stored copies of your photos — timeslip images are processed transiently for OCR and are not retained by us (see Third-Party Services)
• Any information that could identify you personally

Third-Party Services

TrackR relies on a few third-party services to provide core features. We share only the minimum data each service needs, and none of them receive your identity.

• Anthropic (Claude API) — when you scan a timeslip, the photo is sent to Anthropic to extract the printed data via OCR. The image is used only to return that data; it is not retained by us and is not used to train AI models. See the Anthropic Privacy Policy.
• Open-Meteo (weather) — your GPS coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to retrieve current weather and density-altitude conditions for your location. The coordinates are used only for this lookup and are not stored on our servers.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud run backups, optional anonymous performance telemetry, and any feedback you send through the in-app feedback button are stored on secure AWS infrastructure in the United States. Feedback messages do not include your name or email.

How We Use Information

• Backed-up run data is used to restore your data if you lose your device, and in anonymous, aggregated form to improve ET prediction accuracy
• No data is sold to third parties
• No data is used for advertising

Data Storage & Deletion

Your data is stored locally on your device using SQLite. If Share data & cloud backup is enabled, run data is also stored on secure AWS infrastructure in the United States, keyed to your anonymous backup ID. We do not operate a user account system.

To request deletion of your backed-up data, email us at trackrperformance@gmail.com and include the backup ID shown in Settings → About.

Children's Privacy

TrackR is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
